A talented and deep Jesuit golf team opened the spring season by whipping Archbishop Rummel, 164-228. The match took place on Tuesday, March 1, at Timberlane Country Club in Gretna.

Senior Brett Hocke led the way with a 9-hole score of 39. Freshman Jackson Maniscalco recorded a 40. Three-year starter Nolan Lambert, a junior, shot a 42, while freshman Britt Khalaf finished with a 43. Sophomore Jake Kuebel’s 44, the highest score among Blue Jays competing Tuesday, was discarded and did not count toward the team total.

There are four other seniors on the 2016 team: Carlo Carino, Jonathan Cedro, Cameron Kaupp, and Grant Glorioso, who is considered to be one of the state’s top prep golfers. Other members of coach Owen Seiler’s squad include a handful of sophomores: Addison Bui, Grayson Glorioso, J.T. Holmes, Andrew Kuebel, and Jack Vollenweider. Jay Rowell is the only freshman on this year’s team.

Blue Jay golfers were slated to face St. Augustine on Thursday, March 3, but the match has been cancelled.
