Soccer Claims District Title With Win Over Chalmette

Jesuit’s soccer team clinched the LHSAA District 9-1 championship with a 4-0 road win over Chalmette on Friday, Jan. 29.
Seniors Dillon Fuchs and Chase Rushing scored within the game’s first five minutes to give Jesuit a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, senior Charles Rice made a spectacular run at the goal through heavy traffic but wasn’t quite able to score. Fortunately, junior Patrick Rees was there to finish the deal with one of the easiest goals of his career, body pushing a deflection into an open net.
Junior Colin Parenton finished the scoring with a textbook header off an assist from senior Reid Detillier.
The win improves Jesuit’s record to 21-3-2. The Jays will tune up for the playoffs with a final regular season game against Vandebilt Catholic (Houma) on Monday Feb. 1 at John Ryan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
