Seven different seniors scored goals as Jesuit’s soccer team won its last regular season district home game by a score of 9-1 over L.W. Higgins on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at John Ryan Stadium.

Connor Maheu scored three goals in the first 20 minutes of action, staking Jesuit to a 3-0 lead. Michael Pou, Ethan Camet, and Jose Aleman also found the net in   the opening 40 minutes, giving the Jays a 6-0 lead at halftime.

During the intermission, all 19 seniors on the roster were honored along with their parents in a ceremony on the field (see photo gallery below). In addition to Maheu, Camet, and Aleman, the following seniors were recognized: Evan Aucoin, Ben Bares, Reid Detillier, Dillon Fuchs, Collin Gillen, Charles Glass, Grant Lazier, Brady LeBlanc, Connor Maheu, J.R. Marlbrough, Cole Retif, Charles Rice, Chase Rushing, Patrick Rye, Nick Slay, and Matthew Zeringue.

In the second half, Rye, Retif, and Gillen finished out the scoring.

Jesuit is now 20-3-2 on the season (the Jays’ record was adjusted this week when an overtime win against Destrehan in tournament play was, by rule, changed to a tie).

The Jays can clinch the district title with a win on Friday at Chalmette. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m.
