Prepare for laughs as the Jesuit Philelectic Society launches it’s fall production season this weekend with a comedy favorite “Shrek The Musical.”

According to the show’s description, in a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre—not a handsome prince—shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand, and his name is Shrek.

Directed by Phils moderator, Mrs. Kate Arthurs-Goldberg, “Shrek The Musical” has music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. It is based on the 2001 DreamWorks Animation’s film “Shrek” and William Steig’s 1990 book “Shrek!” With dazzling sets, whimsical puppetry, high energy dance numbers, and laughs by the minute, it transforms the contemporary children’s book and popular animated feature film into a stage musical that is sure to entertain.

All performances will be held in the Jesuit’s auditorium on the weekends of Nov. 9-10, and then Nov. 15-17. Showtimes listed below. Tickets are available now, online.

Show Announcements:
