The Debate Team continued its success streak at New Orleans debate tournaments with a great all-around showing at Cabrini High School’s Green and Gold Tournament on Jan. 16-17, 2015.

In the Varsity Lincoln-Douglas division, junior Arjun Verma captured his first career tournament victory while freshmen Robert Cerise and Robert Christmann tied for third place. In the Public Forum division, the sophomore team of Troy Broussard and Andrew Souther earned a strong second place finish. In the Novice Lincoln-Douglas Division, pre-freshman Charles Korndorffer finished second in only the second tournament of his career, and pre-freshman Jack Zvonek finished in third place. The team finished with the most cumulative sweepstakes points in debate of any team at the tournament.

In the week leading up to the team’s strong performance, young alumni from around the country attended practice at Carrollton and Banks to help coach and instruct the team. Former debaters William Simoneaux ’09, Nick Falba ’10, Jacob Pritt ’12, Logan Williams ’12, and Eduard Spinu ’14 all spent time judging practice debates and offering critiques to prepare the debaters for their upcoming tournaments.
