Blue Jay seniors Chris Powers and Antonio Scelfo were recently named to the 2013 All-American team by U.S. Lacrosse, the sport’s governing body. The organization recognized Powers, a long stick midfielder, for his play on the field, which included leading his team to a second consecutive state championship in April. Powers will continue his lacrosse career at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Scelfo, a defender, was selected for his work on the field and the classroom. He finished with a 4.55 GPA. It’s Scelfo’s second stint on the All-American team. He will be attending Notre Dame University in the fall.

Brendan Saxon, who coordinated Jesuit’s defense in 2013, was named assistant coach of the year. Saxon, a Georgetown Preparatory School alumnus, is returning to the nation’s capital to clerk for a federal judge.
