Often touted as the best day of the school year, the Jesuit Thanksgiving Drive allows Blue Jays the opportunity to live out the motto of being Men for Others.
Just after 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, one event remained in the LHSAA State Championship Swim Meet at the Sulphur Parks and Recreation (SPAR) Aquatic Center. By this point, Jesuit High School had already clinched the title.
Jesuit’s 2017 Alumnus of the Year Jack Laborde ’67 took to the Traditions Courtyard podium and injected some good old Blue Jay Spirit into the assembly of Jays.
Seniors David Gravolet and David Hart and junior Charles Korndorffer scored a 36 on the ACT, raising the total number of current Jesuit students with perfect scores to six.

Chain Reaction…

The Biotechnology Club met Thursday afternoon for several demonstrations in chemical chain reactions. Travis Kieff ’17, a freshman at UNO majoring in mechanical engineering, returned to his alma mater to help out Biotechnology Club moderator Mrs. Amy Tassin. In his first demonstration, Kieff explained how and why vinegar mixed with baking soda releases carbon dioxide gas, which can be used in chemical volcanoes and other projects. Kieff filled a beaker with baking soda, added the vinegar, and let the CO2 fill a balloon. Here, freshman Garrison Trahant gets a close up of the chemical effects of the experiment.
