Penn Dawson, S.J., to Speak at Advent Evening of Reflection on Dec. 3
The Incarnation: Seeing the Transcendent God Face to Face

Alumni, their spouses and guests, parents of students, and parents of alumni are invited to attend an Evening of Reflection on Jesuit High School’s campus this season of Advent on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019. This year’s Advent reflection will focus on the mystery of God’s incarnation and the transformative power of God’s revelation to His people.
There will be an opportunity for confession in the 3rd-floor Chapel of the North American Martyrs beginning at 6:30 with Mass offered at 7:00. Following the Mass, Fr. Penn Dawson, S.J. will lead the reflection with an opportunity for questions as light refreshments are served in Saint Ignatius Hall. Please register before December 1st.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Fr. Dawson earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in 1987. After practicing law in Tampa, he recognized a calling to the religious life and to the Society of Jesus, entering in 2009. He served as a theology teacher at Rockhurst Jesuit High School in Kansas City, Missouri; a Volunteer Chaplain at Evins Juvenile Detention Center in Edinburg, Texas; and in the homeless shelter of Saint Xavier Church near Union Square in New York City. Fr. Dawson earned a Master of Arts in philosophy from Loyola University Chicago where he also served as a volunteer chaplain. Upon completing his degree in Chicago, he was missioned as a visiting professor of law at Loyola University in New Orleans where he taught Torts, Legal Philosophy, and Professional Ethics. While at Loyola New Orleans he also assisted in campus ministry and taught a course on Saint Ignatius and Ignatian spirituality for a group of students in Rome. He later served as a deacon at Holy Name Church on the Loyola New Orleans campus. In 2018 Fr. Dawson completed his theological studies at Regis College, the Jesuit theological school affiliated with the University of Toronto through the Toronto School of Theology in Canada. Having just completed a pastoral year in the missions of southern Belize, Fr. Dawson is now back teaching at Loyola’s law school.
