Wild-Photo_20161107_WyssDue to extraordinary interest in the summer college application essay workshop, Jesuit High School will host an additional fall workshop for the Class of 2018. While the class format will remain the same, class meetings will be held on four consecutive Saturdays — Sept. 16, 23, and 30 from 9 to 11 a.m., and Oct. 7* from 1 to 3 p.m. These dates have been cleared with both the Jesuit Band and Football team.

*Please note the time change on Oct. 7. This is to accommodate those students who wish to take the SAT that morning.

Open only to the Class of 2018, the four-day workshop will focus on writing the Common App Essay (though participants may also use the workshop to write other college application essays). Workshop sessions will be co-taught by Mr. Gary Wyss and Ms. Allie Timberlake and will guide students through the writing process, from brainstorming ideas to polishing the final product.  Topics and activities will include:

  • the dos and don’ts of writing college application essays
  • consideration of sample student essays
  • analysis of Common App essay prompts
  • brainstorming and generation of topics
  • drafting of essays
  • individual feedback from instructors and peers

This workshop is limited to 30 students and needs a minimum of 12 students to be offered. The cost is $200. Unfortunately, we will be unable to accommodate any change in registration from the summer to the fall workshop.

Register by Friday, April 28.

Online registration is closed.
