Patrick LaCour Honored with St. Timothy Award

Senior Patrick LaCour was honored by the Archdiocese of New Orleans CYO/Youth and Young Adult Ministry Office with the St. Timothy Award. LaCour was one of just 17 seniors who received the distinction from Archbishop Gregory Aymond at the diocese’s annual Leadership Celebration in St. Louis Cathedral on April 26.

The St. Timothy Award is the higest award the Archdiocese can bestow upon a young person. The national award recognizes, on a diocesan level, outstanding youth who exemplify Christian service, Catholic leadership, and good moral standards.

“Christian leadership is the choice to serve others while actively seeking to be a Christian example for others, seeking to do God’s will through one’s actions and words,” Lacour said.

LaCour was recognized for his leadership and service in his church parish of St. Clement of Rome in Metairie. He is an officer in the CYO, delegate to Teen CROSS and the Catholic Leadership Institute, and a member of the peer ministry team. At Jesuit, the graduating senior was active in the Sodality

“Patrick has shown tremendous leadership in the spiritual life at Jesuit, not only by the example he sets in making the Lord the foundation of his daily life, but also through the many talks he has given to fellow students at retreats and serving as the master of ceremonies for the Archdiocesan World Youth Day celebration in October,” said director of campus ministry Jeremy Reuther. “We are very proud of Patrick’s recognition and pray for his continued joy in service to the Lord as he moves on to a broader environment in college.”

Blue Jays Receive Outstanding Youth Award

Several Blue Jays were also recognized at the Leadership Celebration with the Outstanding Youth Award — seniors Dillon Knight (St. Catherine of Siena, Metairie), Evan Carrie and Noah Mouton (St. Pius X, New Orleans), and Daniel Sagona (St. Rita, Harahan); junior Connor Passantino (Divine Mercy, Kenner); sophomore Jacob Tingler (St. Agnes, Jefferson); and freshmen Jordan Merritt (St. Andrew the Apostle, New Orleans) and Blaise Bonura (St. Benilde, Metairie).
