Track and Field Takes Third Place in District Meet

Junior Roshan Sojitra took first place in the high jump at the District 9-5A meet at Tad Gormley on Thursday, April 23. Sojitra will move on to compete in the in the 110 meter hurdles at the Regional Meet next week.

The track and field team finished third place overall with 115 points at the District 9-5A meet at Tad Gormley Stadium on Thursday, April 23. Brother Martin captured the district title with 161 points. Rounding out the top five were runner-up Rummel with 122 points, fourth place Shaw (95) and fifth place Holy Cross (34).

Three Blue Jays took home individual district titles. Sophomore Jandon Briscoe won the 400 meter dash. Senior Austin Schott was district champion in the pole vault. Junior Roshan Sojitra took first place in the high jump.

Several Blue Jays qualified for the Regional Meet in Thibodaux next week, including:

  • Michael McMahon in the shot put and javelin
  • Andrew Mieras in the discus
  • Mark Jaunet in the javelin
  • Evan Poche in the triple jump
  • Andrew Stapp in the pole vault
  • Reed Meric in the 1600 meter run

  • Patrick LaCour in the 800 meter run
  • Jandon Briscoe in the 200 meter dash

  • The 4 by 400 meter relay team of Bobby Comeaux, Patrick LaCour, Raymond Nash, and Evan Carrie with alternates Jandon Briscoe and Johnny LaForge
