Sophomore Noah Martin and junior Max Murret combine to put the stops on an opponent from Golden, Colorado. The Blue Jays won, 8-3.

The Blue Jay lacrosse team continued to flex its muscle with victories over out-of-state opponents.

Jesuit gilded Gautier-Pascagoula (Mississippi), 22-0, and beat Golden (Colorado), 8-3. Both matches took place in perfect weather conditions on Saturday, March 28, at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner.

Junior Josh Cvitanovich had three goals, two assists, and two ground balls in the Gautier game. Sophomore Briggs Lucia and senior Jerry Spencer added three goals of their own. Scoring two goals apiece were sophomore Bennett Faust, and juniors Jacob Buuck and David Zazulak.

Senior Robert Zazulak and junior Taylor Anderson grabbed six ground balls each.

Goalie Eric Wright, a senior, made three saves.

Against Golden, senior Garrett Perez had two goals and six ground balls. Junior Max Murret tallied two assists, two takeaways, and two ground balls. Single scorers were Cvitanovich, sophomore Parker Simoneaux, Buuck, and seniors Michael Simon and Billy McMahon, who grabbed six ground balls from his lead face-off position.

Junior Rob Hinyub, who had four saves, minded the net.

The Blue Jays return to action of Tuesday, March 31, against Holy Cross. The Tigers introduced lacrosse this year. Face-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. at Muss Bertolino.
