Blue Jays Sail in 2008 National Tournament On May 24-25 the Jesuit sailing team--consisting of seniors Michael Levert, Julian Richards; juniors James Pottharst, Danny Housey, Austin Slakey, Kenneth Taylor; and sophomores Ian deBoisblanc and Stanton Murray-- traveled to Minnetonka, Minnesota, for the high school team racing national championship for the Toby Baker Trophy.
The team sailed against the twelve best teams from around the country on the recently thawed lake. The team struggled on Saturday in breezes ranging from 16-27 knots. In several races, they took the lead, but the Jays were unable to hold off the more experienced teams and qualified for the Bronze Division. On Sunday, they faced more manageable conditions; but in the end, they finished in a tie for 10th. St. George's High School from Rhode Island won the championship. Congratulations to the Jesuit sailors for placing 10th in the Nation!
