Required Team Camp - June 4-7 (Friday-Monday)

Again this year we host the US Naval Academy at LSU!  This is an excellent development for our entire team.

New Orleans select lacrosse team being formed this summer

Try outs in early June.  Interstate competition is planned, and a fall select team is planned also.  This select team is designed for advanced play as well as exposure to university coaches to help with recruitment of metro players.  All players in the metro teams are elligible to try-out.

Summer Youth Camp, for Incoming Grades 4-7,  Planned This Summer

Stay tuned for details in March.  This year we will expand the camp to be a full gear training event.

Advanced Camps This Summer
This summer we hope to see a lot of our players attend advanced camps for skill development.  We will provide a list of recommended camps later in the Spring.  We select camps that a) develop player skills & b) expose our best players for collegiate recruiting.  This begins in the sophomore year.  It's never too early to begin preparing for this possibility!  Additionally, Head Coach Mike Brantley and Coach Chad will be coaching at the Naval Academy in late July & early August if you would like to attend with them.  Players 6th-12th grade are elligible to attend.

Summer 2009

First Lax Summer Youth Camp!

The first week in August, the Blue Jays hosted the first summer youth camp for 4th-7th grade students.  Twenty-eight students were coached by Jesuit Varsity players in basic skills and game play, as well as shooting, conditioning and preparing for Jesuit.  Coach Brantley shared he was very satisfied with the first camp, as it was a test pilot and was not even advertised until middle of June.  He went on to comment on his satisfaction with the player-coaches.  Several families from two schools are now seeking to get teams started at their middle schools, as they prepare for Jesuit in the future.

Starting the Year Right as "Men for Others":  Giving Back to One Who Invested so Much in Us!

Jesuit lacrosse players work in the community.

On August 8th fifty-five Jesuti lacrosse players and their parents joined Communitas New Orleans when they  converged on a family home of Coach and teacher Ford Dieth of Christian Brothers School.  Coach Deith, the father of youth lacrosse in New Orleans trained and invested in over half of the Jesuit 100 strong lacrosse team.  His years of investing, encouraging and training these young men left a huge impression upon thema nd their famiies.  When Coach Brantley shared their need to get a yard gone wild since Hurricane Katrina, the team responded enthusiastically, including families who were out of town giving money to cover lunch.

The day began with tackling huge overgrowth, and ended with trimming the rose bushes.  The day saw two thirty cubic foot dumpsters filed to the brim!   All with a sense of real community, no rewards, just friendships that matter.  The coaches remarked how the families embody the Jesuit mantra, "Men for others!"  It was a pleasure, Coach Deith!  You've given to us and we're glad to give back to you!
