At the 10th Annual Commencement Luncheon, Blue Jays from the Class of 2011 Are Honored as Newest Alums

The Armstrong Ballroom in the Sheraton Hotel on Canal Street was the setting for the 10th annual Commencement Luncheon on Friday (April 29). More than 500 Blue Jays, including the 264
seniors from the Class of 2011, attended this popular event. Ben Walsh '79 was this
year's guest speaker and had his audience in stitches as he tossed out what must
have been some 250 or so one-liners. Walsh is a funny alumnus and as
Benny the Jokeman, he is a frequent contributor to Jay Leno's
monologue. The event marks the formal occasion of members
of the Class of 2011
joining the Jesuit Alumni Association.

with him to the luncheon and addressed Blue Jays about the

at Annual Commencement Luncheon

The 2008 Commencement Luncheon begins with the traditional processing in of the senior class
to the stage area as the Jesuit fight song plays.

At the 7th annual Jesuit High School Commencement Luncheon, which was held Friday, May 2, the 274 graduating seniors of the Class of 2008 were formally welcomed into the ranks of Blue Jay alumni.

Some 225 Jesuit alumni were on hand to congratulate seniors at the event. Jesuit dads sat with sons, uncles with nephews, and there were a few three-generation Blue Jay families.

Featured speaker Alan Donnes '79 served up the right concoction for the occasion, mixing his dry sense of humor with serious reflections about his kidney disease, his father's inspiration and love, and how Jesuit prepared him to meet the challenges of life.
