Marine Corps JROTC held its year-end change of command ceremony on Wednesday, May 1, in which Cadet Colonel, senior Grant Gonzalez, relinquished command to Cadet Lieutenant Colonel, junior Garrett Wolff. A post and relief was also recognized for Cadet Sergeants Major, senior Jared Blohowiak and junior James Szeszycki. |
MCJROTC Provides Color Guard to Banquet Honoring Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia  MCJROTC Program provided a color guard for the American-Italian Cultural Center's Annual Sports Banquet. One of the honorees was Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, who is the senior enlisted advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Bryan Battaglia, senior enlisted advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, received the American Veteran Award at the Louisiana American Italian Sports Hall of Fame Awards Banquet Jan. 19 at the Hilton Riverside in New Orleans. The SEAC, along with gymnast Alicia Sacramone, coaches Andy Russo and Mike Trapani, media specialist Maria Muro, singer Lena Prima, physician Dr. Frank Incaprera, and civic leader Wayne Nocito, were all recognized for their contributions to the American Italian community. MCJROTC Holds Record-Breaking Annual Toy Drive  Pre-freshman Jared Tonglet, freshman Connor Martinez, and freshman Connor Passantino show some of the over 1,000 toys donated by Jesuit students in this year’s Christmas toy drive.
Annually, the Marine Corps Reserve collects toys for local needy children. Jesuit’s MCJROTC collected 1,127 toys — a record high amount — for the effort this school year. The toys were donated through a homeroom competition in which homerooms 801, 901, 14003, 1102, and 1206 each turned in the highest amount for their grade level. These homerooms have earned a donut party, courtesy of the MCJROTC Program. See Photos of the 2012 Toys for Tots Drive

MCJROTC Program Excels During Annual Inspection  The ROTC underwent its annual inspection on November 27 on the third floor of the Roussel Building (due to rain). Marines from Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters inspected the 132-man Cadet Batalion, grading them on personal appearance, drill, and military knowledge.

MCJROTC Students Reach New Heights in Young Eagle Flight Program  Pre-freshman MCJROTC cadet Bryce Racine gives the thumbs up after taking a flight in a WW II era Stearman biplane. Bryce was one of 17 MCJROTC students who took to the sky in the Young Eagles Flight (YEF) program at the Diamondhead, MS airfield on Saturday, October 6. The YEF program is sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) nationally and run by the local chapter in Diamondhead. The program is intended to spark young people’s interest in aviation by providing 30-minute orientation flights in privately-owned civilian aircraft.
