Big Easy Sportsplex at John Ryan Stadium.

Retif Oil (11-3, 2-1) held a round robin tournament this weekend (June 15-16) featuring five different teams from across southern Louisiana.  Retif kicked off the tournment with a shut out victory over Big Easy Sportsplex, 5-0. In game three on Father’s Day, Retif looked to rebound from game two with a victory against Heymann Chiefs (Comeaux).  Retif struck first in the bottom of the third inning by scoring three runs before the bats fell dormant until the bottom of the sixth.  After allowing Heymann Chiefs to break the shut out in the top of the sixth, Retif answered with seven runs to cushion its lead in the sixth.  Glynn Hyer ’14 (1-0) held the Heymann Chief batters at bay with four strike outs in the five innings pitched. Clayton Deron ’14 came in during the sixth to record the save.  Mitch Alexander ’13, Dylan Weston ’13, and Clayton Deron ’14 led the offensive surge in the bottom of the third and sixth inning each tallying two hits. Brandon Sequeira ’14 also contributed with his stand-up two run double to push Retif past the Heymann Chiefs, 10-2.

Retif Slips to Peake BMW, 3-2

Brandon Sequeira ’14  throws the ball to first Friday, June 7, 2013 during the 3-2 loss to Peake BMW at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

Retif Oil (8-2, 2-1) was held to just one hit during the 3-2 loss to Peake BMW (Brother Martin) on Wednesday night (June 12).  Retif pieced together two runs thanks to a throwing error and a sacrifice fly to left-center by Brandon Briuglio ’16 before the hit by Scott Crabtree ’15 in the bottom of the seventh inning. But this would not be enough for Retif to avoid its second loss of the season and its first loss in district play.

C.J. Avrard ’14 (2-1) picked up his first loss of the season. Avrard gave up 3 runs on 11 hits while striking out five Peake BMW batters. Retif returns to Kirsch-Rooney on Friday, June 14 to take on Deanie’s Seafood (Rummel High School). First pitch is 7 p.m.
