| 2012-13 Varsity Golf Team | Blue Jay Golfer, Junior Colton Blagrove, Named All-Metro by Times-Picayune  Junior Colton “C.J.” Blagrove, who helped Jesuit win the 2012-2013 district golf title and qualify for the LHSAA regional and state tournaments, has been named to the Times-Picayune’s All-Metro Golf Team. After posting a team score of 323 in Monday’s opening round of the LHSAA state tournament in Shreveport, the Blue Jays bounced back with a 316 on Tuesday, April 30. Freshman Grant Glorioso carded a 77. Junior C.J. Blagrove finished with a 78. Freshman Carlo Carino entered the clubhouse at 79. Nick Ingles, the only senior in the starting line-up, shot an 82. Junior Will Dufour’s 83 did not count toward the team total. With so many golfers returning to next year’s squad, the future of Jesuit golf is bright. |

Jesuit’s varsity golf team posted a team score of 323 on Monday, April 29, 35 strokes behind current leader Barbe. St. Paul’s is second, just two shots off the pace. Catholic of Baton Rouge is in third at 313. Junior C.J. Blagrove and freshman Grant Glorioso carded 80’s. Senior Nick Ingles shot an 81. Junior Will Dufour finished with an 82. Freshman Carlo Carino’s 87, an improvement over his performance in the regional round, was discarded. The LHSAA state tournament concludes with round two on Tuesday, April 30. |
| Blue Jays Finish Tied for Second at LHSAA Regional in Hammond  The Jesuit golf team qualified for the state championship tournament in Shreveport by finishing tied for second at Carter Plantation in Springfield on Tuesday, April 23. St. Paul’s captured the top spot with a team total 298. Jesuit and Denham Springs finished at 328. Zachary qualified with a score of 332. The Blue Jays finished with the following individual scores: Junior C.J. Blagrove (80), freshman Grant Glorioso (82), senior Nick Ingles and junior Will Dufour (83). Freshman Carlo Carino’s 92 was discarded. Senior Jack Culotta is serving as the team’s alternate. The top four teams and top four individuals not on one of the top four teams move on to the state tournament which will be played at East Ridge Country Club and Shreveport Country Club starting on Monday, April 30.

Blue Jay Golfers Meet Tianlang Guan, Chinese Amateur Who Played in the Masters The Jesuit golf team met with Tianlang Guan, the 14-year-old amateur from China who recently played in the Masters at Augusta. Guan has been honing his game most of spring right here at Lakewood, the same golf course that the Blue Jays call home. On Saturday, April 20, Guan gave a mini-seminar on the finer points of the game to a small crowd that included the Blue Jays.
The Jays will compete in the regional tournament on Tuesday, April 23 at Carter Plantation in Hammond. The Jays must be on top of their game at the regional event if they hope to earn a spot in the state tournament in two weeks in Shreveport.

The 18-hole tourney featured players from 10 other schools. Five golfers on the team were allowed to compete with the highest score discarded. The Blue Jays scored 316, five strokes behind Brother Martin. | the spring season. When the two rivals dualed at Lakewood two weeks ago, the Crusaders won by two strokes. So the Jays on Tuesday were not only looking to avenge this earlier loss to the Crusaders, but also pocket the district championship in the process. The Blue Jay golfers accomplished both objectives on what was a blustery afternoon on Lakewood’s front nine, par 36 course. Coach Owen Seiler ’75 selected a team composed of senior Nick Ingles, juniors Will Dufour and C.J. Blagrove, and freshmen Grant Glorioso and Carlo Carino. Only the four lowest scores factored into Jesuit’s team total of 154. Those low scores were turned in by Ingles (37), Dufour (37), Glorioso (39), and Carino (41). Jesuit will compete in a bi-district tournament on Tuesday, April 16 at Lakewood. Each team will field five golfers for the 18-hole tournament. The regionals will be held April 23 at Carter Plantation in Hammond. The LHSAA state tournament is April 29-30 at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport.

In a Straight Up Dual Match Against the Raiders, Blue Jay Golfers Claim the Advantage Junior Will Dufour pushed his drive slightly left on the 7th hole at Lakewood Golf Club and used a short iron for his approach shot, landing the ball about nine feet below the hole. Dufour had to settle for par after his birdie putt came up just short. The action took place on Tuesday afternoon, April 2, as Jesuit’s golf team won its match against Archbishop Rummel, 152-173. In these types of matches, coaches from each team selects five golfers to compete, but only the four lowest scores count after finishing nine holes. The four Blue Jays who turned in the lowest scores on the par 36 front nine course were senior Nick Ingles (37), junior C.J. Blagrove (37), junior Alex Anderson (39), and freshman Grant Glorioso (39).
During the Easter break, several members of the varsity golf team, accompanied by family and Coach Owen Seiler ’75, competed in the Palmetto High School Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC, taking home third place honors in the third flight of the two-day tournament. Alex Anderson shot 164 (85-79); freshman Carlo Carino ended with a 166 (85-81); junior Cole Johnson carded a 167 (85-82); and Jack Culotta scored 170 (88-82). The team was given a plaque and each player also received a medal for their accomplishments. The golf team has two district matches remaining on the schedule: Chalmette on Thursday, April 4, and Brother Martin on Tuesday, April 9. Both matches are at Lakewood and begin approximately 4 p.m. |

In its second district match of the spring season, the Blue Jay golf team soundly defeated Chalmette on Wednesday, March 20 at Oak Harbor Golf Club in Slidell. Jesuit finished with a team score of 165, while the Owls tallied a 252. Senior Nick Ingles posted the lowest score of the day (40). Other Blue Jay scores: senior Jack Culotta, Jr. (41), junior C.J. Blagrove posted a nine-hole score of 38, which was matched by classmate Will Dufour. Freshman Grant Glorioso finished with a 39. Junior Alex Anderson rounded out the scoring with a 42. Only the top four scores are counted in the team total. The Jays square off with Chalmette on Wednesday, March 20 at Oak Harbor Golf Club in Slidell. Blue Jay Golfers Win Barbe Classic in Lake Charles
 The Blue Jay golf team tuned up for district play by winning the Barbe Classic at Gray Plantation Golf Club in Lake Charles on Saturday, March 16. Members of the winning team took home this handsome trophy. Freshman Grant Glorioso led coach Owen Seiler's team with an 18-hole score of 73. Junior C.J. Blagrove posted a score of 77. Senior Nick Ingles finished at 78, while junior Will Dufour shot an 82. Jesuit finished with a team score of 310. Barbe was second with 312 followed by Sulphur's 313. Glorioso finished third overall. Jesuit opens spring district play against Archbishop Rummel on Tuesday, March 19 at Timberlane.

Ingles Leads Blue Jay Golfers Over Newman and Country Day at English Turn
Senior Nick Ingles shot a 37 to lead the Blue Jay golf team over Isidore Newman and Country Day on March 13 at English Turn Golf & Country Club. The Jays finished with a team score of 161. Newman was second with a 185, followed by Country Day which posted a 189. Freshman Grant Glorioso shot a 38. Junior Will Dufour finished with a 42, while senior Jack Culotta rounded out the Blue Jay scoring with a 44. Scores that didn't count toward the team total include freshman William Boyd's 44, sophomore Francis Plough's 46, and freshman Carlos Carino's 52. In Windy Conditions, Blue Jay Golfers Tee Off Spring Season with Second Place Finish

The golf team improved to 3-0 with a close win (150-153) over Brother Martin at Lakewood on Tuesday, October 2. Junior Will Dufour and freshman Grant Glorioso both shot 36, while juniors Cole Johnson shot 38 and Will Myers finished with 40. The team will be back in action on Thursday, October 4 when they take on Chalmette at Lakewood at 4 p.m.

Blue Jay Golfers Open Season with Back-to-Back Wins Over Chalmette and Archbishop Rummel  The golf team opened its fall district season on Tuesday (September 18) with a 166-182 victory over Archbishop Rummel. Two days later, the golf team defeated Chalmette, 158-239. Juniors Will Dufour (pictured) and C.J. Blagrove, along with Glorioso, each shot a 41. Senior Nick Ingles finished with a 43. Against Chalmette, Dufour shot a 35, Glorioso a 37, Ingles a 42, and three players — Blagrove and seniors Joe McAloon and Jack Culotta — tied at 44, although only one of the 44s count in the final team score. Coach Owen Seiler ’75 and his team have a big match coming up against Brother Martin on Tuesday, October 2.
