After participating in a number of Mardi Gras parades, the Blue Jay Band packed up their instruments and headed to Orlando, Florida, to lead the parade in the Magic Kingdom at Disney World. Band members make this annual trek to Florida during the Mardi Gras break.
Jesuit Band Celebrates Mardi Gras with the Krewes of Bacchus and Mid-City
The Blue Jay Band is ready to begin the long trek through the Uptown New Orleans parade route for the Bacchus parade on Sunday night.
The last weekend before Fat Tuesday, the Blue Jay Marching Band and the Jesuit Jazz Band shared their musical talents with the thousands of parade-goers lined up on the traditional New Orleans route for Bacchus and Mid-City. Both performance groups, along with the Jayettes and the Jesuit cheerleaders, did not disappoint the appreciative crowds on Sunday, February 10.
It’s Mardi Gras Time! Blue Jay Band Marches in the Carrollton Parade
The Blue Jay Band marches through Uptown and Downtown New Orleans during the Carrollton Parade on Sunday, January 27. Jesuit’s MCJROTC will march in Hermes on Friday, February 8, and the Blue Jay Band will march again in Bacchus on Monday, February 10.

Christmas Concert and Social to be Held Saturday, December 8 at 6 PM
Looking to get in the holiday spirit? Jesuit invites you to attend its annual Christmas concert and social on Saturday, December 8 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. Families are sure to enjoy an evening of Christmas music and an appearance from a special jolly guest. This free, family-fun event will feature the Blue Jay concert band directed by Mr. Joe Caluda ’79, the jazz band directed by Mr. Jason Giaccone and the Jesuit High School Chorus directed by Ms. Kate Arthurs. Dress warm! The forecast calls for a high chance of snow.
Blue Jays Honored to Perform with All State Honor Bands
Seniors Chris Stephens and Ian Rohr and junior Patrick Doell were honored to perform recently in LMEA All State Honor Bands. Ian performed on November 18 with the All State Orchestra. Chris and Patrick performed on November 19 with the All State Concert Band. The students were chosen to perform after two rounds of regional and statewide auditions. These performances took place in Baton Rouge in conjunction with the LMEA annual music conference.
Blue Jay Marching Band Receives Top Scores at LMEA Festival

The Blue Jay Marching Band and Jayettes participated in the 2012 Louisiana Music Educators Association District VI Marching Festival at Joe Yenni Stadium in Metairie on Tuesday, October 30. This marching competition is the highlight of the marching season for the Blue Jay Band and Jayettes and they both received the highest award possible!
Drum Major received a Superior rating. Auxiliary (Jayettes) received a Superior rating. Drum Line received an Excellent rating. Overall Band received a Superior rating.
Jesuit and Clavius Jazz Bands Receive Standing Ovations from Blue Jays, Families, and Friends
The Jesuit Jazz Band joined forces with the visiting German band from Clavius Gymnasium this week to perform for Blue Jays, families, and friends. They filled the auditorium with an hour of jazz tunes and words of appreciation on Thursday, September 27 to a receptive audience of students and faculty. Junior Adam Boe (left) and freshman Tristan Killgore played sax in the joint concert. The two bands entertained the previous evening at Rock ’n Bowl. The visiting students are part of a band exchange program that has existed for nearly 15 years. They will stay in New Orleans with Jesuit High School host families through the week.
Jesuit and Clavius Jazz Bands to Play at Rock n’ Bowl
Jesuit’s Jazz band will join with the visiting German band from Clavius Gymnasium to entertain the crowd at Rock n’ Bowl on Wednesday (September 26) at 7 p.m. Blue Jays, this is a Homeroom Showdown bar code event worth 3 points per ID scanned.
Band Practices for Upcoming Football Game and Joint Concert

The visiting students are part of a band exchange program that has existed for nearly 15 years. They will stay in New Orleans with Jesuit High School host families through next week.
Band Travels to Play Tunes and Visit in Annual Germany Exchange Trip
Jesuit's Blue Jay Band took its annual summer exchange trip to Germany. The group visited Budapest, Hungary; Prague, Czech Republic; Vienna, Austria; and then spent eight days in Bamberg, Germany where the Clavius Gymnasium is located. Travelling with the group of 110 were members of the Jesuit Band and family members. The German students from Claviys Gymnasium will visit Jesuit September 24 through October 2 on their exchange trip. Clavius Gymnasium from Bamberg, Germany, have been educational partners sharing musical skills and interests for many years.
