| Baccalaureate Mass Brings Together Blue Jays in the Class of 2013 and Their Parents |

Jesuit High School’s annual Baccalaureate Mass was held Sunday, May 19 in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs for the 255 members of the Class of 2013, marking the beginning of the end of their formal Blue Jay education. Following the Baccalaureate Mass, a reception was held in the Student Commons for the almost-graduates and their parents. Commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2013 are scheduled on Thursday, May 23 at 8 p.m. at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner. Seniors are reminded that graduation rehearsal takes place that morning at 9 at the Pontchartrain Center.

Profile of a Jesuit Teacher Award: Four Faculty Members Honored as 2013 Winners  At the faculty-staff end-of-year dinner reception held Friday, May 17 in the Student Commons, these four faculty members were honored as winners of the Profile of a Jesuit Teacher Award. From left are Matt Orillion, Chris LaMothe, Mollie Roberts, and Ron Rossi.
The 2013 winners of the Profile of a Jesuit Teacher Award were honored for their accomplishments at the faculty-staff end-of-year dinner reception, which was held Friday, May 17 in the Student Commons. The winners are: Matthew P. “Matt” Orillion, a theology teacher who serves as moderator of the Pro-Life Club as well as the Student Council. Christopher J. “Chris” LaMothe, a theology and physical education teacher who serves as an assistant football coach and moderator of the St. Peter Claver Club. Mollie Roberts, the director of guidance and a counselor to seniors who also serves as moderator of Peer Support. Quiz Bowl Team Prepares to Wage Battle in the National Tournament to Be Held in New Orleans This Weekend Quiz Bowl Team coach Ron Rossi and his first string lineup will compete in the national tournament during the Memorial Day weekend (May 25-26). Members of the team, which recently won a fifth straight state championship for Jesuit High School, consists of , from left, seniors Dominic Lloyd, Will Emmett, and Peyton Fine (captain), and juniors Kevin Yokum and Ian Calamari.
Jesuit’s Varsity Quiz Bowl team will compete in the National Quiz Bowl Tournament during the Memorial Day weekend (May 25-26, 2013). The tournament, sponsored by the National Association of Academic Competition (NAAC), takes place in a hotel on Convention Center Boulevard in downtown New Orleans. Captained by senior Peyton Fine, Jesuit’s varsity team consists of two other seniors, William Emmett and Dominic Lloyd, and juniors Kevin Yokum and Ian Calamari. The Blue Jay quintet recently emerged as the kings of Louisiana Quiz Bowl by virtue of winning the Division 1 State Championship, which marked the fifth consecutive state title for Jesuit High School.
