Eight senior Jesuit players each scored a goal against Archbishop Shaw in second round district soccer action on a cold and windy Saturday afternoon (January 30) on the West Bank. Additionally, Jesuit’s two backup junior goalies — Alex Barnes (third from right) and Greg Tortorich (standing next to his little brother Matthew) — kept the Eagles’ offense at bay. Blue Jays whose feet were on fire are, from left, Brandon Cohen, Spencer Hart, Alex Brignac, Graham McQueen, Rene Robert, Brad Stewart, Connor Jackson, and John Barbara. Goalies Barnes and Tortorich each played a half, with neither allowing the Eagles to score. Tortorich’s little brother Matthew happens to be his biggest fan, not to mention a potential future Blue Jay goalie.
Jesuit’s soccer season closes Monday night with the traditional final game against the Newman Greenies at Newman. The match begins at 7 p.m., following the JV game that starts at 5 p.m. |
