Jesuit (5) vs. Bro. Martin (1)
Wednesday, January 14, 2009 -- Pan-American Stadium
(Match Broadcast Live on NOLA.com)

Jesuit senior forward Charles Kleinschmidt goes airborne. Kleinschmidt was one of four
Blue Jay players to score against Bro. Martin.

Junior Brad Stewart comes close to zipping the ball past a Crusader defender and the goalie.
The Blue Jays were unrelenting and pressured the Crusaders’ goalie throughout the match.

Less than a minute after the Crusaders stunned Jesuit by scoring a goal, Patrick Mullins (18)
wedged the ball past a host of Crusaders to tie the game, 1-1. Mullins and his teammates
celebrate the goal.

What goes up must come down: At the last second, Kleinschmidt is thwarted by a Crusader.

Whenever Jesuit and Bro. Martin meet on the soccer field, their match is intensely physical
and aggressive. Junior Jordan Schwartz tames the ball and keeps it away from a Crusader.

Senior Mark Reuther (seen in background between two Crusaders) scores Jesuit’s second goal as
the Jays go up, 2-1. Reuther headed a corner kick that had already ricocheted off the head of
teammate Thomas Bourgeois.

Jesuit senior goalie Stephen Andrieu zealously guarded his turf.

Along with goalie Andrieu, senior defensive back Trey Kramer is another reason why Jesuit’s
opponents have experienced difficulty in scoring.

With dead-on accuracy and a powerful foot, junior Patrick Mullins is one of the Jays’
potent offensive weapons.

Mullins rifled a brilliant left-footed shot past the Crusaders’ goalie from 28 yards out to give
the Jays a 3-1 lead early in the second half. Savoring the goal are, from left, Mark Reuther,
Mullins, and Charles Kleinschmidt.

When the Crusaders’ goalie committed and tried to snatch the ball, only to miss,
senior forward Daniel Moise pounced. Minutes later, Moise satisfied his thirst by scoring
Jesuit’s fourth goal to give the Jays a 4-1 lead.

Mark Reuther heads the ball to the middle to set up a play.

As the Crusaders’ goalie comes out of the box to retrieve the ball, he suddenly feels the pressure
of Charles Kleinschmidt, who is intent on chasing down the ball. A thorn all night in the
Crusaders’ side, Kleinschmidt later scored the fifth and final goal for Jesuit.

Sophomore forward Stephen Cabos and a Crusader try to control the ball, but both end up on the
artificial turf of Pan-Am Stadium.

Jesuit and Bro. Martin fans cheered their teams side-by-side in the newly renovated stadium.

For the broadcast on NOLA.com, Jesuit asked two former standout Blue Jay soccer players,
Scott Aertker ’98 (on left) and P.J. Kee ’00, to call the match. Jesuit thanks them for their time
and looks forward to their next broadcast on NOLA.com -- the 7 p.m. match against Rummel on
Wednesday, January 28 at Pan-American Stadium. In the meantime, NOLA.com intends to
archive the Jesuit - Bro. Martin match and should soon have a link to the entire game.
