Football (Week Four):
Jesuit (9) vs. Catholic High (16)
Friday, September 21, 2007
Olympia Stadium-Baton Rouge

Linebacker Zachary Ferger (31) and safety Troy Mathews (11) wrap their
arms around a Bear as Jason Richert (42) and Jeremy Terry (78) move in.

Scott Cronin leaps high to thwart a pass.

Ethan Oddo (7) hands off to senior running back Austin Egan
as senior guard Michael Bilalis (51) and sophomore lineman
Kenneth Bourgeois (60) pave the way.

Junior punter Beau Mothe was called on 8 times, averaging 36 yards per kick.
He was roughed once by the Bears.

Bears running back Todd Lee is on his way to an 85-yard touchdown run
after magically escaping from several warming Blue Jays who, seconds before,
nearly pinned him for a loss.

Senior wide receiver James Loetzerich holds for kicker Will Just who puts the Jays
on the board with a 26-yard field goal.

The spirit of Mark Tufts, Jeffrey Gelpi, and Boe Reboul...

... and the smiles of the Jayettes

Junior return specialist Marvin Davis almost takes the second half kickoff
all the way, giving the Jays excellent field position.

Payten Jason picks up some nice yardage on this play.

On third and goal, Payten Jason is stopped inches short.
Trailing 9-3, the Jays decide to go for it on fourth down...

...But as Jason goes up the middle, the ball is stripped from him...

... And the Bears come up with a huge save.

Linebacker Jason Richert intercepts and sprints 52 yards for a touchdown.

Richerts interception and touchdown is cheered by fellow senior defensive backs
Dan DeVun (23), Scott Cronin (33), and Mark Schellhaas (21)

After the Jays defense stops the Bears on fourth and inches,
Coach Wayde Keiser signals the ball is Jesuits.

The traditional post-game meeting and congratulations between the two rivals...

is followed by the singing of the Alma Mater.
