Alumni Celebrate Class Reunions, Renewing Friendships and Their Blue Jay Spirit

 


The Class of 1994 celebrated their 15-year reunion with a couples’ party
at The Rusty Nail in the Warehouse District on Saturday, May 23, 2009.

At Jesuit High School, spring and summer usher in the reunion season. The 2009 reunions were for Blue Jays who graduated in years ending in “4” and “9.” Check out the pictures from this years reunions!

Hot! Hot! Hot! Blue Jays Brave Heat Wave to Reel in Winning Fish at Annual Jesuit Fishing Rodeo

Under Blue Skies and a Warm Sun, Blue Jay Golfers Return
to City Park North for Annual Tourney


Jesuit alumni and their guests gather under the Pavillion along Filmore Avenue across from the old City Park North Course to enjoy hot boiled crawfish and spicey jambalaya following an afternoon
of birdies, pars, and bogies amidst fellowship and camaraderie in the annual Jesuit Golf Classic
on Friday, June 12, 2009.

Congratulations to Fr. Nile Gross on his recent ordination to the priesthood. Fr. Gross, a graduate of the Class of 1995 and
a co-valedictorian, has been assigned to work in St. Clement
of Rome Parish in Metairie.

On a recent Monday morning, Fr. Gross returned to the Jesuit campus to visit with some of his former teachers and to check out the changes to the campus and the school that have taken place,
especially since Katrina.

’s 8th annual Commencement Luncheon took place Friday, May 1, welcoming the Class of 2009 into the ranks of Blue Jay alumni. Approximately 200 Jesuit alumni attended the event at the Sheraton


Sal Liberto ’90

New Orleans Canal, where they sat with the 246 seniors of the Class of 2009.


This year’s guest speaker was Sal Liberto ’90, who is the vice-president for enrollment at Loyola University.

Jesuit's Legion of Volunteers Feasts on 1,800 Pounds of
Boiled Crawfish at Annual Thank You Party!


The Traditions Courtyard was the springlike setting on Friday evening for the annual crawfish boil thanking hundreds of Blue Jay volunteers for their efforts throughout the year.

Bazaar Is a Picture Perfect, Glorious Blue Jay Day!


When this photo was taken at 12:43 p.m. Sunday from the roof of the small chapel,
the annual Blue Jay Bazaar was in full swing with the crowd beginning to swell
Jesuits yard. Blue Jays came from here, there, and everywhere for a fantastic Bazaar, thanks to perfect weather and the hard work of hundreds of volunteers.

Jay Thomas 66 addresses Blue Jays at a Morning Assembly. Thomas is an
Emmy Award-winning actor and is the host of
The Jay Thomas Show 
on Sirius Satellite Radio. Other Jesuit alumni who have spoken
at Morning Assembly include educator and business
and civic leader Edgar Dooky Chase 67,
and U.S. District Judge Jay Zainey 69,
who is Jesuit’s 2008 Alumnus of the Year. 

 

Hon. Jay C. Zainey '69 Recognized at Homecoming Mass as Jesuit High School's 2008 Alumnus of the Year



The Honorable Jay C. Zainey ’69 is Jesuits 2008 Alumnus of the Year.


Jay C. Zainey, a 1969 graduate of Jesuit High School who is a tireless champion for people with special needs, as well as a staunch advocate for the homeless, was honored at Homecoming Mass on Sunday, October 12 as the school’s 2008 Alumnus of the Year.

“Jay Zainey embodies the Jesuit ideal of being a ‘Man for Others’ and we are proud to honor him as our Alumnus of the Year,” said Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J., president of Jesuit High School. “He has always set the bar high by working in a professional and ethical manner, while channeling his enormous energies into several humanitarian projects which have improved the lives of people, especially those with special needs in our community.”
