Big “J” Read

The Big “J” Read is Jesuit’s annual summer reading project that rewards students academically for reading one or more books before the start of the new school year. At the beginning of the school year, the Big “J” Read assembly is held, with more than 500 Blue Jays participating each school year.

At the assembly, Blue Jays break into small groups to discuss the book(s) individually with their classmates and faculty members. Following the discussion period, students respond to short answer questions. In order to earn the extra academic credits, students must demonstrate that they have read the book(s) through their responses.
