Jesuit High School exists to foster in its students the competence, conscience, and compassion to be men of faith and men for others. At the heart of this mission is the teacher. The document The Profile of a Jesuit High School Teacher outlines the ideal characteristics of the Jesuit teacher. The Profile Award was established a year ago to recognize excellence in teaching at Jesuit High School. Each "winner" receives a check for $2,500 and a handsome plaque at the annual faculty-staff dinner held at the end of the school year. The Profile Selection Committee of five Jesuit High School personnel thanks those faculty members who submitted nominations for the second year of the Profile Award. Although the Selection Committee selects only four recipients each year of the Profile Award, the truth is that our faculty is rich with Profile-worthy teachers. Based upon faculty nominations, the following were selected as 2009 Profile of the Jesuit Teacher Award recipients: Helen Swan, Jack Culicchia, Kathy Juhas, and Thomas Spitz Spitzfaden.
