 The curtain parts at the Pontchartrain Center on Tuesday evening, May 26 to reveal the 243 seniors of the Class of 2009. Jesuit’s 162nd Commencement Exercise lasted approximately 50 minutes but the memories will last forever.
Traditional Awards Announced at Graduation Ceremony Merited by Trio of Blue Jays  At graduation, it has been a tradition for many years to announce the recipients of three major awards. This year, these awards were presented to, from left, Peter Flores, Matt Landrieu, and C.J. Marshall.
Peter J. Flores received the Reverend Father President’s Spiritual Leadership Award, which is presented to the senior who has exerted the greatest spiritual influence on others by living a life exemplifying his Catholic faith. Matthew J. Landrieu received the Harry McEnerny, Jr. Memorial Plaque, which is awarded to the senior who has a good scholastic record, actively participated in extracurricular activities, and possesses those qualities which symbolize the most representative student of Jesuit High School.
Christopher “C.J.” Marshall was the recipient of the Very Reverend Father Pedro Arrupe Award, given to the senior who has exemplified the spirit of being a man for others by his participation and excellence in service.

At Baccalaureate Mass, Thanks Go to '09 Seniors, Who Are Encouraged to Rise Above Mediocrity
 Parents and friends gathered with the Class of 2009 in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs to celebrate the seniors’ Baccalaureate Mass.
| The Class of 2009 along with their families and friends celebrated their Baccalaureate Mass Sunday morning in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs on the Jesuit High School campus. Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J., who was the chief celebrant for the Mass, thanked the seniors in his homily (listen below) for their efforts while attending Jesuit and challenged them to continue to resist the temptation of mediocrity. Jesuit High School’s 8th annual Commencement Luncheon took place Friday, May 1, welcoming the Class of 2009 into the ranks of Blue Jay alumni. Approximately 200 Jesuit alumni attended the event at the Sheraton

New Orleans Canal, where they sat with the 246 seniors of the Class of 2009. This year’s guest speaker was Sal Liberto ’90, who is the vice-president for enrollment at Loyola University.
