 For the last night of the LEF spring phone drive on Wednesday, March 17, this quintet from the Class of 2001 spent a busy two hours contacting their classmates to seek donations to the important alumni annual fund. | Good luck to the Jesuit varsity baseball team who will participate in the Westbank Optimist Tournament at Segnette Park. The Jays, who are fighting through injuries that have benched four players, will play the Northshore Panthers Thursday afternoon at 4 PM. Directions to Bayou Segnette State Park. |

The Blue Jay Writers Earn Silver Scribe AwardsStaff writers and editors of The Blue Jay competed last weekend at the 34th annual Tom Bell Silver Scribe Competition. The Blue Jay journalists joined more than 50 students from six area schools for the yearly high school journalism competition, which is sponsored by Loyola University and the Press Club of New Orleans. Senior Evan Shea, editor-in-chief, won the first place prize in the Sports Writing category, for a piece that the judges called "heartfelt and compelling" and which showed "fresh ideas." Shea also won the second place award in Column Writing and an honorable mention in both the Feature Writing and Critical Review categories. Senior Ian de Boisblanc took first place in Editorial Writing. The judges particularly cited his "original point of view." In the Feature Writing category, senior Eric Haydel took second place. Haydel also scored an honorable mention for Layout and Design. Senior Chris Glueck won the second-place photography award. Junior Ricky Bordelon won the third-place prize in the Critical Review category. Other Blue Jay staff writers competing included seniors Fritz Metzinger and Tyler Treuting. The Blue Jay earned a second place rating overall in the Best Newspaper competition. The panel of judges made up of professional journalists praised The Blue Jay's mix of features and news, cited the professional, easy-to-read design of the pages and solid writing skills of its staff. Jesuit Quiz Bowlers Win MCA TournamentCongratulations to Jesuit's varsity quiz bowl team for taking first place at the Mt. Carmel Academy Tournament this past Saturday (March 13). Blue Jays Qualify For National Debate Tournament Junior Alex Hotard (left), sophomore Jacob Pritt, juniors Scott Tilton, and Austin Speaker
| Jesuit’s Debate Team said, "No, I'm right; and yes, you're wrong" all last weekend (March 14) as they travelled to Lafayette to compete at the NFL Nationals Qualifying Tournament at Acadiana High School. Debaters who place in the top two at this tournament go on to compete in the National tournament in Kansas City in June.
Sophomore Jacob Pritt won 19 straight ballots to take the first-place medal in Lincoln-Douglas debate, with junior Alex Hotard finishing a close second. The junior team of Austin Speaker and Scott Tilton won first place in Public Forum debate, as they won 9 straight ballots to close out the tournament.

For Hundreds of Benefactors at Celebration, A Perfect Saturday Evening Happens "Once in a Blue Moon" Theme of Celebration 2010: Once in a Blue Moon
 From the roof of the small chapel, the Traditions Courtyard shimmers at twilight as the Patron Party for Celebration 2010 gets underway. Hundreds of guests enjoyed gourmet dishes from some of the metro area’s finest restaurants and caterers. Bidding on the silent auction items attracted much interest, and the exciting live auction capped a night of fun, all for the benefit of Jesuit.
