Jesuit Community Honors Blue Jays at Annual Awards Night Ceremony  The Blue Jay community gathered in the Jesuit auditorium Thursday evening to recognize students for their accomplishments this school year. Blue Jays Meet the Blue Dog and More! Blue Jays from the Class of 2009 left the Jesuit campus Thursday to visit a variety of sights and activities throughout the metropolitan area. From the sculpture garden and the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park to the Church of the Immaculate Conception and the D-Day Museum in the Central Business District, Jesuit juniors experienced a special day. Above, a group of juniors stop for a picture on the steps of the New Orleans Museum of Art, which is presently featuring a retrospective study of the work of Blue Dog artist and Louisiana native George Rodrigue.

Blue Jay Named Presidential Scholar  Matthew Levy 2008 Presidential Scholar

Congratulations to senior Matthew Levy for being selected as a 2008 Presidential Scholar. Matthew is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Gary T. Levy of Metairie. He is Jesuit’s third Presidential Scholar in six years following Perry Tsai ’03 and Michael Puente ’06. Matthew was chosen as the male representative from Louisiana. Each year, some 2,600 candidates are identified based on exceptional academic and artistic abilities. Matthew has been invited to National Recognition Week in Washington, D.C., in June, where he will attend a special Presidential Scholars Award Ceremony sponsored by the White House. |
Blue Jays Turn in "Classic" Performance on National Latin and Greek Exams  Congratulations to all those Blue Jays who participated in the 2008 National Latin and Greek Exams this year. Five Blue Jays distiguished themselves by earning perfect scores: pre-freshman Stuart Wilson (left, Latin I), freshmen Donald Ward (Latin II), Sal Maffei (Latin II), and Jacob Moore (Attic Greek). Jesuit Rugby Captures South Regional Title  Blue Jays line up for a scrum at the Rugby Regional Tournament this past weekend in Tennessee. Congratulations to the Jesuit rugby team for successfully defending their South Regional Title by defeating teams from Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia . The Jays have won this title in 2005, 2007, and now 2008. Jesuit now travels to the National Rugby Tournament in Pittsburgh, PA.
