Jesuit’s 2008 – 2009 school year was indeed a very good year. A brief tally of the record book tells the tale.
243 graduates in the Class of 2009. Thirty-five National Merit Semi-Finalists.
Nearly $22 million in scholarship awards. Four State Championships.
Over 24,300 hours of service to the community…. Strictly considering the numbers, Jesuit High School closes the book on another outstanding school year. But the facts and the awards do not tell the whole story. The success Jesuit enjoys is directly attributed to each Blue Jay who willingly agrees to meet the school’s challenge. The story begins with the pre-freshman or freshman who takes his seat at a desk and begins his studies. As he faces the exciting test of a rigorous academic program complemented by a faculty of professional, caring educators, a Blue Jay writes a narrative that includes the joys and the challenges of a high school career. These lessons foster intellectual curiosity; develop a deeper, personal faith with God; create an open and critical mind; and—in the end—put together a man for others. Although daily instruction plays a key role in the Blue Jay’s growth, Jesuit’s co-curricular program provides each student the opportunity to express his talents in a varying array of experiences and to forge valuable friendships that will last a lifetime. It is the individual’s Jesuit experience and Jesuit education that prepares him for the challenges that will come after high school.
