In 161 years, no qualified young man has been refused admission to Jesuit because of financial incapability. It is difficult to manage the finances of such a large institution given this parameter. Hurricane Katrina made it a little more difficult. Obviously it takes a great deal of effort to ensure Jesuit remains available to young men from all economic strata. First and foremost, tuition must be kept at a level affordable to nearly all families. Jesuit flourishes because of the generosity of its alumni and its parents. They recognize the importance and value of a Jesuit education. Each year, through the Parents Annual Giving (PAG) drive, parents voluntarily contribute the difference (the gap) between tuition and the actual cost of educating a Jesuit student. The gap for the 2007-08 school year is $2,285. Parents give what they can afford. Alumni also help defray expenses and keep tuition affordable by their generous contributions to the Living Endowment Fund (LEF) drive.
