The Jesuit High School (JHS) baseball team opened its 2019 campaign in the WGNO Baseball Classic on February 21-23. It was an undefeated weekend for the Blue Jays, who won all four games and erased from their memory last season’s playoff loss to St. Paul’s by defeating the Wolves, 2-0 (Game 4).

With these four wins and regular season victories over Newman and Lutcher, the Jays carry a 6-0 record into their host tournament, the Jesuit Invitational. Head coach Kenny Goodlett is excited about the upcoming weekend of Jesuit athletics, which couples the baseball tournament at John Ryan Stadium with the basketball playoff game Friday night in the Gayle and Tom Benson Arena.

Goodlett begins his first full season as head coach of the Blue Jays. He has perfect attendance as assistant coach for the Jesuit Invitational, which started in 2012 with the opening of John Ryan Stadium; but of course this will be his first Jesuit Invitational tournament as head coach.

In the season opener at Avenger Field, sophomore Tripp Haddad hit for the cycle in Jesuit’s 10-0 victory over Newman.
