On Wednesday night the Jesuit wrestling team and its fan base watched Holy Cross celebrate senior night in the Tigers’ gymnasium before the dual meet began. Home mat advantage was certainly in effect from the start, as every whistle stimulated a loud reaction from the Holy Cross bleachers.

The Blue Jays were able to finish the meet strong, winning two of their last three matches. But the earlier falls they surrendered were impossible to overcome in the eventual 53-9 wake-up call they received from the Tigers, who opened the meet with five straight victories. Even a comfortable heavyweight victory from Jesuit team captain Perry Ganci could not silence the home crowd, for the Tigers answered with five more wins until Luke Battaglia (138) and Colby Queyrouze (145) broke the streak.

Jesuit wrestlers continue to compete against each other in order to prepare for the district and state tournaments that lie ahead.

Through the Lens…

In His Words…

After the meet, head wrestling coach Sheridan Moran said, “All we can do is put the boots back on and get to work. Yes, there are some technical adjustments that need to be made, but that dual meet was not a technical deficiency. It had a lot to do with fight and heart. Dual meets are all about pride…we need to have more pride in being Jesuit wrestlers.”
