Regular Order, Day 4

  • Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place today in the second floor chapel. Benediction will begin at 12:50.
  • The Classic Rock Club will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 203.
  • Sophomores attending Unity Day will meet today during second half of lunch in Room 210.
  • All members of the varsity tennis team will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 219
  • The 11th Annual Senior-Directed One Act Play & Improv Comedy Festival continue tonight at 7:30 pm.  The festival also runs tomorrow at 2:00 and 7:30 pm. Admissions is $5 or 5 canned goods, and all proceeds go directly to Second Harvest Food Bank.
  • Both the 9th grade and JV soccer teams will compete in the Gulfport High Invitational Tournament on Saturday at the Gulfport Sportsplex.

  • The 8th grade soccer team will compete in the St. Paul’s Tournament on Saturday.

  • The varsity soccer team will play at Gulfport High this evening starting at 5:45.

  • The junior varsity soccer team will play at Newman this evening starting at 5:00.

  • The varsity basketball team will play at John Curtis tonight with tip off set for 7:00.  The JV game begins at 5:45.

  • The varsity wrestling team will compete in the district championship meet on Saturday at Brother Martin starting at 9:00.

  • The 8th grade basketball team will face Shaw on Saturday starting at 9:00 then play John Curtis at 11:00.  Both games will be played at Shaw.

  • The Blue Jay Rugby team will face the Houston-area Woodlands Rugby team tomorrow with kickoff set for 3 PM at Archbishop Shaw Stadium. 
  • Varsity football try-outs have been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 3pm.
  • Top’s Tip of the Day: Blue Jay Spirit can be shown by supporting your classmates.

Results:

  • This past Saturday, the Blue Jay Rugby Team handily defeated Brother Martin 36-12 with scores from Langston Goldenberg, Daniel Davillier, Peter James, David Childs, and Gavin Skipper. Goldenberg was also named Man of the Match.
  • On Saturday the 8th grade basketball team swept its doubleheader against St. Charles Catholic and St. Augustine. Congratulations. 
  • The JV basketball team ran it’s district record to 5-1 by beating Brother Martin 49-38.  Luke Laforge had 10 points, Malcolm Baldwin 8, Porter Lichll 8, and Patrick Lavie 7 in a balanced scoring attack.  Chris Gillen had 2 charges to lead the defense.
  • On Saturday, the Academic Games team competed in the annual Presidents tournament at the National WWII museum. The game challenges players knowledge and understanding of the personalities, historical contexts, political decisions, and other events of the Presidents of the United States of America. The senior division team of Matthew Dowling, Nicholas Cibilich, and Dexter Webster placed first. Matthew also finished in first overall, with Junior Aqib Zakaria coming in second. Pre Freshman Wade Rogers finished in the Top 10. Congratulations.
