What a stretch it has been for the Retif Oilers since they returned from the San Jose Tournament. Six straight wins in less than 10 days is exactly what the young squad needed as the team transitions into postseason play.

The first playoff outing, the City Series (District Tournament), kicks off this weekend from Friday, June 29 to Sunday, July 1. By winning the City Series, Jesuit-based Retif (11-3-1) will earn a spot and potentially a first-round bye in the Legion State Championship. While the 2nd place team also earns a spot at state, the Oilers can save time and energy since only two other teams are competing for District 1. American Legion participants Brother Martin and Holy Cross (2018) have recently withdrawn, leaving Wilson Electrical (Warren Easton) and Best Chevrolet (De La Salle) as Retif’s only district competition.

Retif handled Best Chevrolet in its season opener, 15-1, and outlasted Wilson with a 16-2 victory in the midst of the recent 6-game win streak. Click here to view game times for the City Series at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
