The Jays’ incredible offensive passing game and smart footwork were no match for the Owls’ defense, leading to two early goals, allowing the team to settle into a nice rhythm. The Chalmette team defended well with strong numbers behind the ball, however, the Blue Jays scored three more goals shortly before half time. Junior Ashton Perkins picked up the first and second goal with an assist from senior Braden Brignac. Junior Jacob Torres scored the team’s third and fourth goals of the night with assists from Perkins and junior Marcus Larzelere, who, in turn, scored the fifth goal with an assist from junior Arthur Ross. The team came back just as strong in the second half with junior Bennett Mansour picking up the last three goals with assists from senior Brandon DeRojas and junior Kai McCurley, effectively ending the game early with a final score of 8-0 and securing a valuable district win.

Coach Hubie Collins was pleased with the team’s performance, saying, “Offensively, I thought we moved the ball well through the different lines of play. We switched the point of attack well and created several good goal scoring opportunities. Defensively, the team was compact and kept their shape well, limiting the opponent to very few goal scoring opportunities.”
