Saban Sellers, a native of Lafayette, has been named the head coach for the Jesuit lacrosse program.

Saban Sellers has been named head coach of the Jesuit High School lacrosse program. Prior to being named head coach, Sellers was on the Jesuit varsity lacrosse staff as assistant coach and offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.

“I have always had great respect for the Jesuit lacrosse program,” said Coach Sellers upon the announcement, “so I am honored to be named head coach to a program that has had such a tremendous record of success. Expectations are always high for Jesuit lacrosse, and I hope to exceed those expectations as we continue to grow this winning program.”

Originally from Lafayette, Coach Sellers played four years of lacrosse at St. Thomas More High School. He was a two time team captain (2010-2011) and two time state champion (2010-2011) , being named 2011 offensive MVP in the state championship game. Coach Sellers was also a three time All-District, two time All-State, one time High School All-American, and was named the 2010 WSL Louisiana player of the year.

After high school, Coach Sellers played at Birmingham-Southern College before transferring back to LSU, where he graduated from the E.J. Ourso College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in finance. While not coaching the Jesuit Blue Jays, Coach Sellers holds a position as a Sales and Leasing Executive at Stirling Properties in New Orleans.

Regarding his time on the Jesuit sidelines so far, Sellers remarked, “We have had great graduating classes these past two years, and we will certainly be a young varsity team with a lot of new challenges moving forward. With that being said, I know our JV A and JV B coaching staff has done a great job preparing our up and coming varsity players to play at the next level. Pairing that with our returning varsity player experience, there should be no reason why we can’t bring the championship trophy back to Carrollton and Banks.”

Sellers replaces coach Steve Krobert ’05, who has guided the Blue Jays for three seasons, winning state championships in 2015 and 2016. “I am extremely excited to get to build off of the past success that Coach Krobert was able to establish and will accept nothing less than keeping Jesuit at the top of the LHSLL.”
