Rising senior Christian Gonzalez and rising freshman Dylan Blady have joined the Kenner Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council for 2016-17. The two Blue Jays were among 10 new youth council members inducted at the June 2 Kenner City Council Meeting.

The Youth Council was established in 2013 to give teens an up-close look at local government. Members are Kenner residents between 14 and 19 years of age. Several Blue Jays have served on the council since its founding.

The Kenner City Council has requested the group’s viewpoints on a variety of issues. In the past three years, the Youth Council has organized fundraisers to benefit the Kenner Recreation Department and Veterans Park. In addition, the group (led by then-council president Arjun Verma ’16) worked to benefit The Esplanade mall.
