Jayettes Take Home Honors in Two Recent Competitions

The Jayettes pose with the certificates and trophies they earned at the the American All-Star Mardi Gras Classic Regional Competition in Chalmette.

The Jesuit Jayettes recently participated in two competitions, and several ensembles and individuals took home high honors.

On January 16-17 the Jayettes competed in the American All-Star Louisiana State Competition in Lafayette. The team earned 4th place in jazz, 3rd place in pom, and 1st place in the kick category. The team took home 3rd place in the state for their kick routine.

Molly Mancheski (captain), Alexis Roth (co-captain), Lindsey Vathy (co-captain) and Abigail Marziale (lieutenant) placed 4th in the High School Officer division.

Sophomores Molly Richard and Victoria Porretto took home runner-up for their duet in the High School Duet division.

On Saturday, Feb. 27 the competition team participated in the American All-Star Mardi Gras Classic Regional Competition in Chalmette. The team had two soloists compete in the High School Solo division where Marziale placed 3rd, and sophomore Molly Richard took home top honors.

Two Jayette pairs competed in the High School Duet division. Mancheski and Lindsey Vathy placed 2nd, while Richard and Victoria Porretto took 1st place.

An ensemble of sophomores from various schools won the High School Ensemble division. Performing in the 1st place ensemble were Richard, Porretto, Peyton Miller, Raegan Tafaro, Morgan Lindsey, Nina Casanova, and Skylar MacDonald.

In addition, the Jayette officers competed in the High School Officer division, where they took home top honors.

The team competed in the High School Large Team won their division for their Jazz, Kick, and Pom routines. For their jazz and kick routines, the Jayettes were awarded choreography honors. Jayettes coach Chloé Crosby is appreciative of MaQue Hollins and Katie Tyrney for their jazz and kick choreography.

The team also received technique awards for all three of their team dances: jazz, pom, and kick.

At the end of the awards ceremony, the Jayettes received the biggest award of the competition by winning High School Sweepstakes for having the highest scores.

The last event of the school year for the Jayettes is a performance at the Jesuit Bazaar on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. The Jayettes will also be in the face painting booth throughout the Bazaar.
