The Blue Jay wrestling team handily beat the Archbishop Rummel Raiders on Wednesday, Jan. 27 in front of a large and vocal home crowd.

Head coach Sheridan Moran says he was not only pleased with the Jays’ performance, but also their mindset heading into the dual meet.

“I like the way we were staying offensive the entire time,” said Moran. “I’m really proud of the team and the way they wrestled tonight.”

With the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA State Wrestling Tournament just around the corner, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 12 and 13, the team is preparing for the challenges they will face when they get to the CenturyLink Center in Bossier City.

“As we look ahead toward the state championship… getting in the mindset of scoring as many points in a match as you can is really important this time of year.”

The Blue Jay grapplers make their final home stand on Wednesday, Feb. 3 when they take on the Holy Cross Tigers. The dual meet is slated to start at 6:30 p.m.
