In Closest Call Yet, Golfers Edge Holy Cross

Freshman Jake Kuebel posted the low round of the day to help the Blue Jay golf team tame the Tigers of Holy Cross, 159-161.  The district match took place on Monday, March 23, at Lakewood Golf Club.

Whew! The Jesuit golf team hung on to top Holy Cross by a mere two strokes, 159-161. The match took place on Monday, March 23, at Lakewood Golf Club.

Freshman Jake Kuebel lead the way with a 37. Junior Carlo Carino shot a 39, while freshman J.T. Holmes tallied a 40. Senior Francis Plough, junior Johnny Cedro, and freshman Grayson Glorioso all shot 43s. Only the top four scores counted toward the team total. 

Jesuit’s top golfer — junior Grant Glorioso — who finished second at the Beau Chene High School Classic on Friday and Saturday, March 21-21, did not play.

The Jays opened the spring season by whalloping Isidore Newman before crushing Country Day

The Blue Jays face district-rival Brother Martin on Thursday, March 26, at Lakewood. Last week’s match against the Crusaders was rained out.

UPDATE: The March 26 match against Brother Martin has been postponed until Tuesday, April 7. The two teams will play again on Thursday, April 9 to make-up a second match that was postponed earlier in the spring season. Both matches are at Lakewood Golf Club.
