Full Schedule Announced for Saturday’s Bazaar

With just days to go until the annual Blue Jay Bazaar, the organizing committee has announced the day’s schedule of events. 

On Saturday, March 28 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., thousands of Jesuit families will flock to the Mid-City campus to “Play Like a Champion” and enjoy plenty of fun, food, refreshments, entertainment, and Blue Jay Spirit. Admission is free to the Bazaar, which features live music, games, food booths and jewelry, liquor, and cash raffles.  Tell your friends to join you at the #BlueJayBazaar.

Bazaar Schedule of Events

Thousands of students, alumni, parents, and friends enjoy the spectacular entertainment, top-notch games, and delicious food at the Blue Jay Bazaar. Check out this year’s line-up below.

10:45 – 11 a.m.

Marine Jr. ROTC Band & Color Guard — Presenting Colors

2:30 – 2:45 p.m.

Philelectic Society “Music Man” preview (in Auditorium)

11 – 11:15 a.m.

Jesuit Jayettes & Cheerleaders

2:45 – 4 p.m.

Midnight Horizon

Comprised of several Jesuit High School students, Midnight Horizon plays a mixture of rock, blues, oldies, and current radio favorites. 

11:15 – Noon

Jesuit Jazz Band

4:45 – 6:15 p.m.

The Medics

The Medics is a three piece band — guitar, bass, drums. The group plays classic rock hits by such artists as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, ZZ Top, The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin, and assorted hits from the ’60s and ’70s.

Noon – 12:15 p.m.

Philelectic Society “Music Man” preview (in Auditorium)

6:15 – 8 p.m.

Neutral Snap

Neutral Snap plays alternative/punk rock, 60′s classic rock, and modern new age rock. The group is comprised of several alumni from the Class of 2013.

12:15 – 1 p.m.

Faith in the Music

Faith in the Music plays a variety of pop, rock, blues, country, and alternative music. The band hails from Destrehan and is known for lead singer Faith Becnel’s powerhouse vocals and unique way of entertaining the crowd.

6:30 p.m.

Booth Raffles Begin

7 p.m.

Grand Raffle Drawing

1 – 2:30 p.m.

Lost in the 60’s

As their name suggests, Lost in the 60’s plays the great hits of the 1960’s — The Beatles, The Hollies, The Beach Boys, Paul Revere and The Raiders, Simon & Garfunkel, and many others.

Masses

4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. (No music during Mass times)

Items Still Needed

Jesuit still needs several items for booths at the Bazaar. Please remember to drop off your donations of 2 liter drinks, frozen foods, desserts for the sweet shop, and items for the liquor raffle and parade of prizes by Friday, March 27.

Mass at the Bazaar

Two Masses will be celebrated (at 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) in the Chapel of the North American Martyrs.

Raffles

Grand Raffle drawing for $5,000 will take place at 7 p.m. Booth Raffles begin at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the Blue Jay Bazaar Grand Raffle have been distributed and are now on sale. The deadline for all salesman awards is 2 p.m. on Friday, March 27. Tickets may continue to be turned in through the Bazaar day for the holiday incentive, but they will not count toward the salesman awards.

Specialty Item Auctions

Several new items will be auctioned off at the Blue Jay Bazaar, including a 2014 Jesuit State Championship game-used, autographed football in a protective display case and a framed autographed photo featuring the state championship team after their historic win in the Dome. These items will be auctioned off beginning at 1 p.m.

In the Spirit Booth, a custom-made Jesuit quilt will be auctioned off, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Booths & Activities

Join Blue Jays for fun in the various booths and activities: paint ball, food tent, sweet shop, sumo wrestling, giant inflatables, rock climbing wall, Blue Jay Shop & craft boutique, instant bingo, cherry bells, tug of war, dunking booth, and much more!

Dine at the Bazaar!

Have lunch at the Bazaar! Fried seafood, Caesar salad, red beans, spaghetti and meatballs, and poboys are a few of the delicious offerings available at the annual event. Or sample items from various local restaurants — Reginelli’s, Kim Anh’s Noodle House, and Palace Café. Come hungry!

Bazaar T-shirts

Bazaar t-shirts are for sale throughout the week in the Student Commons for $10 each. They will also be sold at the Bazaar in the T-shirt Booth.
