If the Jesuit lacrosse team’s performance at the 2015 Jesuit College Preparatory School Tournament in Dallas is any indication, the gap between lacrosse in Texas and Louisiana is closing. Fast!

Coach Steve Krobert’s team went 4-1 on Saturday, Jan. 31, and Sunday Feb. 1. The Blue Jays recorded victories over Hebron (16-0), Flower Mound (7-2), McKinney (11-4), and St. Mark’s (8-3). The only loss of the weekend was to host Dallas Jesuit, 11-5.

“I’ve been a part of most of these Dallas tournaments and this is the best we’ve looked against much stiffer competition,” said Krobert ’05. “I am very proud of how our young men traveled and competed.”

Senior Cameron Guernsey led all Blue Jay scorers with 13 goals and one assist. Junior Max Murret had six goals and 15 assists. Sophomore Noah Martin, who started in place of injured attackman Josh Cvitanovich, finished the tournament with eight goals, two of them in the loss to Jesuit Dallas. Sophomore Briggs Lucia scored four times, while senior Billy McMahon tallied three goals. Seniors Garrett Perez and Michael Simon, and junior Kent Flower had two apiece.

Junior Rob Hinyub started all five games in goal. Senior Eric Wright saw considerable action protecting the net against Hebron and McKinney.

The team’s overall record is now 6-1.

On Jan. 29, the Blue Jays mauled Mandeville, 15-2.

The Jays will be in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, Feb. 24 to face Catholic. On February 26, Jesuit will host Golden High School (Colorado) at Muss Bertolino Stadium in Kenner.
