Sophomore Nolan Lambert, who had an outstanding freshman season, is off to a strong start in 2014.

Under sunny skies and in the comfort of fall temperatures, the Jesuit golf team defeated Holy Cross, 156-173. The match took place at Lakewood Golf Club on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Junior Grant Glorioso and sophomore Nolan Lambert set the pace by firing 38s. Junior Carlo Carino was a shot back at 39, while freshman Grayson Glorioso finished with a 41. Sean Donovan’s 42 and J.T. Holmes’s 44 were discarded. Donovan is a sophomore. Holmes is a freshman. Both are new members of the team.

Head coach Owen Seiler, a 1975 alumnus, says he’s happy with the team’s progress.

“For us the fall season is about getting as much playing time for the younger members of our squad and tuning up for the spring and playoffs,” said Seiler, “and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”

The Jays are now 8-0 in fall play. They return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 21 against Country Day at Lakewood.
