The 2014-2015 golf season opened with a splash, but not the good kind.

Blue Jay golfers got rained out on Tuesday, Sept. 17, and lightning sent them scurrying for safe cover two days later.

The season-opening match against Archbishop Rummel at TPC Louisiana may be rescheduled. The contest against Archbishop Shaw on Thursday, Sept. 18, is officially listed as a win by forfeit. The Eagles showed up with only three students, the same number of holes golfers from both teams got to play at Lakewood Golf Club before course officials halted play.

The Jays, led by head coach Owen Seiler ’75 and assistant coach Sean Hillis, return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 23, against Brother Martin before facing Holy Cross on Thursday, Sept. 25. Both matches will played at Lakewood.

That is, if Mother Nature cooperates.
