The Mu Alpha Theta team placed second in the Louisiana Mu Alpha Theta State Math Convention at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge. The tournament, which took place on April 3-5, saw competition from 31 schools throughout the state. Sixty-four Blue Jays contributed to the team effort.

The team took home top honors in two events — Algebra II Interschool Test and Math Bowl (Analysis Gemini Team).

Mu Alpha Theta is a national high school and junior college honorary mathematics club designed to meet the challenge of reaching out to academically talented students and turning them on to mathematics. Members are students who have completed four semesters of college preparatory mathematics and have completed or are enrolled in a fifth semester mathematics course, providing their mathematics work was done with distinction (minimum B average). The Jesuit chapter of MAΘ is part of a larger state chapter, Louisiana Mu Alpha Theta (LaMAΘ). Each Spring, the state chapter hosts the three-day high-school math tournament which regularly attracts several hundred participants.
