The Jesuit basketball team rounded out play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl CYO Tournament on Saturday afternoon with a hard fought 56-54 victory over the Country Day Cajuns. Leading the way offensively was junior Trey Laforge with 20 points. Other key contributors were senior Riley Conroy with 12 and senior Brett Spansel with nine.

Jesuit started the game well and took a 33-20 lead into halftime. The second half was much closer, as Country Day had a chance to win the game with a last-second three-pointer. The shot missed as time expired, and Jesuit hung on for the win.

The Jays will next play in the Newman Invitational Tournament held at Newman on Tuesday, Dec. 10 through Saturday, Dec. 14. Jesuit begins with a game against Catholic High at 8 p.m., Tuesday at Newman. See the Newman Invitational Tournament brackets (pdf) for more information.
